Valletta - Post Report Question and Answers
What have been the highlights of your time in this country? Best trips or experiences?
I'll never get tired of Mdina and Valletta. Snorkeling and diving is so accessible and lovely. Sunset paddleboard tours of the coastline and caves have been some of my favorite things. Hiking, walking tours, incredible history from the Neolithic to the Knights of Malta to WWII. The Underground Valletta tour and the Lascaris War Rooms tour were fascinating and eye-opening. I doubt most people are aware of just how hard WWII hit Malta. It was the most Axis-bombed country of the war; one average day of bombs dropped on Malta was more than the entirety of bombs dropped on London during the Blitz. - Sep 2025
I loved every last minute living in Malta. I love the people, the food, the hiking, the weather...it's a wonderful place to live. - May 2023
Golden beach, Gozo, boat trips, boat tours, great scenery, sunbathing on rock beaches, old temples, rich history, and good food all around. - Oct 2018
The weather is great, water sports, beaches, cultural events, school events, etc. You can take great trips out of here if you shop for cheap airfare. Also, there is a high-speed ferry to Sicily. - Sep 2016
We are new to Malta, but have few complaints thus far. We love to drive around on the weekends and see new beaches or historical locations. Some say you can see everything in a few weeks... we would strongly disagree. We arrived in fall, but still know the summer swims will be exquisite. We enjoy the beach still most every weekend, strolling, playing in the sand or picking through rocks. We've found the residents to be friendly, though we live in a more small town area than most embassy folks. - Jan 2014
