Valletta - Post Report Question and Answers

Is high-speed home Internet access available? How long does it typically take to install it after arrival?

Yes, but getting Maltese technicians to come install it is a major pain. It took three weeks for ours to get installed, with the technician just not showing up multiple times on the day he said he'd come. You have to be very patient and accept the Mediterranean pace of life. - Sep 2025

High-speed home internet is very accessible and I believe most people spend less than $100/month (mine was free so I can't quote a price). Installation takes less than a week; I helped my sponsee get internet before his arrival, so if you have a willing colleague, this can be done. - May 2023

Yes, reasonably priced and consistent service. Two to five days to set up. - Oct 2018

Yes, multiple providers and decent service. 100Mbps is available with a TV package for 70-80 euro/month. Be careful of contract length if you choose to do so. And, most foreigners get screwed on deposits for equipment. Again, just the Maltese way. - Sep 2016

Available and generally good, about 50-80 euro/month. - Jan 2014

Yes. - Feb 2010

Yes. About $150/month for the top-end service. - Feb 2010

Yes -- about 30 euros per month depending on the speed. Some companies are selling bundles ranging from 50 - 100 euros depending on the speed of the internet, the number of cable channels on the TV, and the phone service (with or without landline and mobile phone). - Jul 2009
