Valletta - Post Report Question and Answers

Are qualified veterinarians and/or good kennel services available? Do animals need to be quarantined upon entry to the country? Are there other considerations regarding pets that are particular to this country?

I did not take a pet to post, but many people did. Quality vets are readily available in Malta, as are pet stores. I don't know the related costs or quarantine issues. Not all housing allows pets, so if you want to bring a pet, you must be very clear on your housing survey about that point. - May 2023

Yes. Check the regs for pets. It's all EU standards and the Maltese follow them to the letter. Quite extensive prep needed. - Sep 2016

No quarantine. Good veterinary care. No kennels to speak of, but you could hire a sitter or ask co-workers to help out. Pets are widely adored by the Maltese, from dogs/cats to a wide love of caged birds. - Jan 2014

No. - Feb 2010

No but there are shot requirements before arrival. - Feb 2010

Yes, for up to 6 months, depending on when the rabies titre test was done - Jul 2009
