Kampala - School Report Question and Answers

How would you rate the school's support and welcome/integration of new students and their families, and why?

The school did a nice job of welcoming the students. There was a buddy system although none of my kids felt their buddies did anything more than show them around the first few classes, then abandon them from lunch on, so they were a bit disappointed. The 'buddy' program could be improved. - Sep 2020

At first I found them very welcoming. - Nov 2019

Extremely good. The school puts a lot of focus on helping new kids integrate and feel comfortable. The school accepts little tiny toddlers up to pre-k, so the welcome/integration is both for new kids to Kampala but also little ones who have never before been in a school environment. The teachers and school involve the parents and the families a lot, communicate a LOT at the start about how things are going, and really help more than I've seen before for parents to feel comfortable that the kids are doing well. And, of course, they really help the kids to actually do well and settle in quickly. - Sep 2018

Very welcoming to new students, strong sense of community, and as inclusion and learning diversity are part of the schools mission and vision, students from all background and levels are and feel welcome of mainstream quality education at ISU. - Jun 2018
