Tegucigalpa - School Report Question and Answers

Does the school have a library? How large is it? How updated are the books? Can students borrow books to read at home?

They don't have a library but each house has sufficient age-appropriate books freely available to the students. In the elementary age classrooms, the students are actively encouraged to read at their leisure. Students are very self-directed and learn to master their own schedule. If they read all the books on their "goal chart" in the 1st three months of the year, they have to spend the rest of the year focusing on their other goals. So they are allowed to read as much as they want, as long as they accomplish their other goals. - Mar 2023

There was a very nice library with current new releases. My early middle school child brought home quite a few novels with pretty explicit sex scenes (think Sex and the City explicit) and we were a little surprised that these were regularly checked out to 11 year old students. - Mar 2023

Elementary library is very good with updated titles. The elementary library recently extended hours on Fridays so that parents can go check out books for the weekend. - Jul 2019

AST has the best library in town. Students can borrow books and even Embassy families who do not have their kids at AST can go and create an account and borrow books. - Sep 2018
