Vientiane - School Report Question and Answers

Are the admissions and placement procedures clearly stated to prospective families, either on the school website or through other means of communication?

Yes, pretty well. Working for the US government, it's less clear for us what elements of VIS' standard process apply to us. That said, this is more of a US government issue. We were very impressed with how VIS' senior staff made themselves available to us before we came to Vientiane to discuss some questions we had about VIS. This attitude made us very comfortable bringing our kids to Vientiane. - Jun 2021

VIS has an excellent website, and the admissions procedures are well-stated and clear. We had no problems understanding the admissions and placement process. - Sep 2020

The admission officers change quite often and the policies on the website are not always followed. The primary school is always very full and some people complain. VIS states that they are inclusive and I had the impression that they take every child when they have space but they will not follow up or not support children very well if they have dyslexia or dyscalculia or ADHD. They mention a learning support team on their website but there are only two people employed for primary and secondary school who are called special education coordinators. - Oct 2017

Admissions are done at the admin level. I do not know the process. - Jan 2016
