Homework assigned (quality, quantity):

A: I was perfectly happy wtih it both as a teacher and as a parent, but it's cultural. Some parents beg teachers to give NO homework while others complain there isn't nearly enough. But I found there were only rare times when my kids had so much that they were up late, and honestly, I think it was their bad planning more than that it was too much homework. - Nov 2012
Elementary is meant to give about 45 minutes of homework per night. In Middle School it's about an hour a night, with project crunch times that mean four or more hours in a day on a few weekends a year. That didn't happen more than four times, I don't think, for either of my children. - Aug 2010
