Reykjavik - School Report Question and Answers

Are other schools available to expatriates in this city? Why did you choose this particular school?

Yes, there is one other school available. We chose the International School of Iceland (ISI) because the administration was very responsive when we were first inquiring about schools for our child in the Reykjavik area. They answered all of our questions, and provided the name of a parent we could speak to as a reference. We also felt the combination of grades in the classroom fit well with our child's needs at that time. - Jun 2023

There is another school (International School of Iceland) but I chose Landakotsskoli based on the teachers' qualifications, curriculum, and location of the school. - Jul 2022

I have taught for over a decade, and I wanted to continue my teaching career. Because the vast majority of Icelandic schools require teachers to be bilingual (in Icelandic and English), my choices were limited. However, I heard wonderful reports about an international school in Reykjavik, and despite having taught grades 7-12 throughout my career, there was an opening for grade 3-4. - Aug 2014

Academics taught in English. - May 2014

The school's website indicated it had a solid curriculum and eluded to the school being accredited like other international schools. I wish there had been more parent reviews, I would have decided AGAINST enrolling my child here. - Apr 2014

It was the only option. - Mar 2014
