How much of the local language do you need for daily living? Are local language classes/tutors available and affordable?

We don't get out much so we get by fine with zero knowledge of French. However, if you expect to spend time out in the community, a working knowledge of French is a necessity and a bit of Arabic would be nice. - Apr 2014
