Do you have any recommendations regarding mobile phones? Did you keep your home-country plan or use a local provider?
Google Fi supposedly works here, but so unpredictably that you can't rely on it. My work phone is the only real option. - May 2026
Google Fi and T-mobile both have service within the country (well the capital city). It is not always that fast. Local carriers are Airtel and Tigo. - Aug 2020
Embassy employees and spouses are issued a basic cellphone. Personal use should be reimbursed. Many of us have brought our own unlocked GSM phone and shifted the SIM card over to it. - Apr 2014
All cell phones here are pay as you go. Embassy employee's have issued cells. A personal cell will run you about 35 a month on average for normal use. - Nov 2006
