Guadalajara - Post Report Question and Answers

Are qualified veterinarians and/or good kennel services available? Do animals need to be quarantined upon entry to the country? Are there other considerations regarding pets that are particular to this country?

Yes, many pets at affordable prices compared to U.S. - Aug 2023

Vets and kennels are available and much cheaper than in the US. Many do house calls. Only challenge was actually getting our dog to post as we ran into weather issues and third party pet-shippers are prohibitively expensive. - Jan 2023

Good vets at good prices. Unsure about quarantine. Sufficient kennels, but some people have a hard time finding one they like. - Feb 2017

No quarantine needed. Vets and kennels are everywhere. This is a very pet-friendly culture. - Jan 2015

No. - May 2014

No quarantine, great pet care all around and kennels are about US$20 a night. - Apr 2014

No, but make sure to have all of your papers in order before bringing a pet. I carried my small dog on the plane with me and had a USDA vet sign off on medical certificate, both I believe helped me in the process once I got to Guadalajara. - Jan 2012
