What volunteer opportunities are available locally?
Orphanages, teaching English, and some religious volunteering is available but few and far between. - Nov 2020
There are some. Mostly with established international groups. Again, the Chinese can be controlling here, though they do still want western groups to do good where possible. Stick with the established groups. They have the connections to stay out of trouble. - Dec 2014
Plenty. I know of a lot of schools for migrant workers' children and advocacy organizations for migrant workers that take volunteers, and I've heard of an animal welfare organization that also takes volunteers. - Aug 2014
