Do you feel that it is safe to walk, run or hike outside? Are there areas where bike riding is possible? What is the availability and safety of outdoor space for exercising? Are these easily accessible?
Safety is one of the best parts about living here as my children are very independent and I never worry. We have left cell phones on busy public stairs and gone back to find them ten minutes later, my teens are often out late at night taking taxis independently and I am never concerned. The real issue with exercising outdoors is the heat, but if you enjoy working out in a steaming 110-degree oven, you do you I guess. We do walk alot, and we have the sweat to prove it. - Jun 2026
Oh absolutely, Guangzhou is one of the safest places I have ever lived, apart from scooters on the sidewalks. We often walk with our small children through parks and the city at night without worry or issue. There are lots of guards and police that patrol everywhere as well as cameras so people behave pretty well. - Mar 2026
