What accommodations do schools make for special-needs kids?

Unfortunately, we haven't heard positive things about this in the international schools. Norwegians schools, however, do an excellent job. - Dec 2022


OIS has no ability and even had some challenges dealing with food allergies in elementary school. Not sure about other schools. - May 2021


They make minor accommodations at OIS. Generally, the country does really well with the special needs population, but because OIS is private, it wasn't easy/natural to get the services that would be available to the local population. Also, while English is widely spoken, some special needs services were less available in English. Therapists, for example, may not be willing or feel comfortable speaking to children in English because of the vocabulary needed. - Jan 2020


I know there are extensive services for Norwegians here, but don't have any knowledge of them or if they are available to ex-pats or not. See my note about schools above regarding the International school. - Jun 2015


Check with the International School - their policy has changed in the last year. - Aug 2011
