Do you have any recommendations regarding mobile phones? Did you keep your home-country plan or use a local provider?

You can get a prepaid SIM card from Telenor or Telia without a D-Number (your ID number that can take a while to get on arrival). The plans are fine for staying in Norway, the EU, and the UK. But remember to set up additional data packets or phone minutes for anywhere else. - May 2026

Home country as it is much cheaper but you need a Norwegian number for a lot of things (ordering groceries, take out and stuff) we have the cheapest possible plan for this reason but use our home phones for all else. - May 2021

Get one! The phones are expensive here, but if you get one as part of a plan it isn't bad. And believe it or not, the plans are actually very cheap! Many things are by SMS or text, so having something is a requirement. - Jun 2015
