What are some typical ways to socialize, either with local people or with other expatriates? Are there groups or clubs that you can recommend?
Some expats live in company housing which creates a community. Many go to church or socialize with others from their country. Canadian Academy has some evening and morning sports/workout classes for parents. - May 2026
The school was a good way to meet other expats before the pandemic. There are clubs you can find via Facebook. Lots of good hiking around here. There is probably a hiking meet-up group, but I don't know. - May 2021
The consulate community here is not very social. People attend the requisite hails and farewells, but they rarely do much socializing otherwise. This is probably because most of the spouses are Japanese. - Aug 2006
