Taipei - Post Report Question and Answers

Is this a "shopping post"? Are there interesting handicrafts, artwork, antiques, or other items that people typically buy there?

I haven't purchased anything really, but some people buy furniture, art, and pottery. There's a government-run auction in Neihu where people bid on furniture. - Apr 2023

Some people buy antiques. There isn’t a ton of handicrafts or artwork like in Thailand, Malaysia or Indonesia. - Jul 2020

Not really, Taipei doesn't really have obvious souvenirs. Plenty of nice things to buy here, but I always struggle to recommend typical Taiwanese souvenirs for visiting friends. Taiwanese pineapple cakes comes closest to being the souvenir of choice, but I'm not a big fan myself. - Jul 2018

ceramics, pottery, crazy tshirts from the night market - Aug 2015

Nothing. Taiwan doesn't really make anything besides semi-conductors. There are fun teas, local ceramics etc, but there isn't really a typical Taiwan product or gift. - Apr 2015

Tea, there is some amazing tea available. - Sep 2013

Hmmm, most interesting products here are imported. But we have beautiful flowers (orchids) around the house for 1/5th of what they cost in the states. - Jul 2013

Jade, pearls, silk, and pottery. - May 2013
