Lima - Post Report Question and Answers

Are preschools available? Day care? Are these expensive? What has been your experience with them, if any? Do the schools provide before- and/or after-school care?

Preschools seem popular. - Jul 2022

Tons - see comments above. About US $500/month for stand alone pre-schools, although more expensive in the international schools like FDR or Newton. Many people are happy with them; we decided to keep our kids in the same school and loved Newton's pre-school. Most.caring. teachers. ever. and gorgeous facilities and outdoor space. - Oct 2018

Preschools appear to be readily available throughout Lima and are not too expensive. Many are bilingual or Spanish-only, providing an excellent opportunity for your child to gain Spanish fluency quickly. - Sep 2015

Yes, all throughout the different neighborhoods. From what I've heard they are pretty good. - Apr 2015

Fabulous preschools, lots to choose from. Cost is around US$250-$450/month. People generally have nannies, so not much in the way of daycare. - Sep 2014

All over the place. I'm not familiar with price. - Apr 2014

There are many preschools and daycare options in Lima. - Mar 2014

Lots of preschool options (called Nidos here). There is a big amount of pressure to put your child in a Nido as soon as they learn to walk (between 1 and 1.5 years old). Most average costs are about US$400-500 a month for a morning class. - Aug 2013

Both are available and with mixed reviews. - Jul 2013

We had a great time with the day care. - Jun 2013

There are several, but I do not have any personal experience. - Aug 2011

Yes many - Jul 2010

Yes many. - Jul 2010

Nidos as they are called are abundant and many families seem happy with the choices avaiable. - Jun 2010

They are called NIDOS in Lima. I heard they can be pricey and generally employ activities not considered healthy in U.S., ex..candy and soda - Jul 2008

Excellent preschool/daycare available, although you will want to seek a recommendation before placing your child/children because the services are prolific and not all of the same quality. - Apr 2008
