How much of the local language do you need for daily living? Are local language classes/tutors available and affordable?
Not much. You can get away with english but it's 'frowned upon' by the locals if you are here longer than a few weeks. Even when you learn Dutch you'll be an outsider, so I wouldn't bother if I had to do it again! - Jan 2007
