Local dental and optical services are good. As in the rest of Greece, Thessaloniki’s public hospitals provide nearly free healthcare; however, most foreigners choose to use the private hospitals. The InterBalkan Medical Center, a state-of-the-art private hospital affiliated with the Medical Center Hospital in Athens, opened in 2000.
