What have been the highlights of your time in this country? Best trips or experiences?
The trip to Tikal in Guatemala was amazing. It's about a 3 hour drive (over some rough roads in Guatemala) but worth it. ATM cave was quite an experience. Lots of evidence of Mayan sacrifices, pottery shards, crystalized skeletons, etc. Very cool. Diving/snorkeling on the barrier reef was a lot of fun. Swimming with nurse sharks and rays. The Inland Blue Hole and St. Herman's cave are worth exploring. The "real" Blue Hole out in the ocean is interesting, but you have to fly over it or dive it to really experience it. - Jun 2026

Scuba diving, snorkeling, quick relatively inexpensive beach trips, magical jungle lodges, learning about ancient Maya culture and visiting the Maya sites. The End of the World/Placencia Half Marathon and Marathon. Great cycling with a fun local club. - Jun 2015
