What are some typical ways to socialize, either with local people or with other expatriates? Are there groups or clubs that you can recommend?
There are community 5k events and some annual biking events that one can get involved with. There is the annual La Ruta Maya 4-day race that people can enter. It's a canoe race across the width of Belize. This is a highly publicized event. There are bars around Belmopan. I don't know of any nightclubs or anything like that for socializing. There are a lot of churches that you can become involved in. - Jun 2026
Dinners at home or lunches out, weekends away, day trips to Belize City, San Ignacio, Placencia, tourist attractions, horse riding, zoo, butterfly farm, bird watching, fishing, golfing, yoga, tennis the beach. The Audubon Society, golf club and tennis club are some of the clubs worth joining. - Feb 2019

There is lots of entertaining among expats and educated Belizeans. Basically, social life is what you make of it. The British Embassy pub and some other expat organizations have weekly happy hours. - Jan 2011
