What are some typical ways to socialize, either with local people or with other expatriates? Are there groups or clubs that you can recommend?

There is so much to do - language barriers aside - but if you can't find something to do here, you're not looking hard enough. The CLO has trips organized, travel within the country is cheap and easy (before COVID), and there are so many gyms, clubs, bars, restaurants, parks, etc. - Aug 2021

Anything and everything. Turks are very friendly. It does help, though, to have a passion (e.g., Latin dance, scuba-diving) so as to meet other like-minded individuals. - Dec 2009
