Muscat - Post Report Question and Answers

Quality pet care available (vets & kennels)?

There are a couple decent vets available and I heard of a kennel, though most families ask someone to take in a pet during vacations. - Jun 2012

There is a good vet. It is probably best to have household help watch your pet. Not sure of kennels. - May 2012

2 decent ones.1 kennel, if you really require it. Most just use their help to watch while gone. - Aug 2011

There are two vets in Muscat. Both are expensive. One kennel for dogs only. If you plan on traveling and putting your dog up, you will need to call months in advance for space. - Feb 2011

Not sure tons of wild or semi wild cats abound which helps keep the rat and mice population down. Arabs are not into dogs but there are many here being walked on a leash by expats. - Feb 2010

Omanis are not pet people, but I heard there are vets and kennels run by expats for expats. - Jan 2010

There are a few vets. Cost is high. - Mar 2009

There are several expat veterinarians who can handle most aspects of routine care. Dogs are not generally popular among Omanis and cats are not as often treated as pampered housepets as in the West. Pet supplies can be limited, spottily available, and very expensive. - Feb 2008
