What is the typical dress code at work and in public places? Is formal dress ever required?

Fairly formal. In Tunis - at least in the affluent areas - most women go without a hijab. - Jan 2024


Smart casual. Tunisians dress up (glitzy) for formal events. In popular expat areas you can be relaxed about dress, in rural areas women and men may want to dress more conservatively. - Jun 2022
