Ljubljana - Post Report Question and Answers

What have been the highlights of your time in this country? Best trips or experiences?

Too many to note. There is an incredible amount of beautiful lakes, hiking trails, mountains, and a small coastline. Skiing and snowboarding are fantastic and affordable. Great cycling. Quite affordable and a very high quality of life. - Jun 2022

Everything is a highlight. Triglav National Park, Bohinj, Bled, several gorges and caves. - Jul 2014

The alpine town of Bled and its beautiful lake is just pure magic and it's only half hour away from Ljubljana. The seaside town of Piran, wich was part of the Venetian Republic in the Slovenian seaside, is also enchanting. The Postojna Cave is really amazing, and the lake Bohinj is great for swimming. There's also the Predjamski Castle and many other incredible sights in Slovenia. The center of Ljubljana is very small, between the river and the small castle on the hill: just like a fairytale. It is always full of people, night and day. - Aug 2011

The countryside is gorgeous and very accessible. During the summer months, there is lots of good hiking. In the winter, good skiing is less than an hour away. Ljubljana also has a lot to offer. The center is small, but vibrant, with many nice cafes and a huge Saturday market. I have also enjoyed going to the many excellent performances at Cankarjev Dom, which are very affordable, with good seats costing about 20 euros. There is a lot to do here and it is hard to take advantage of all of it. - Jun 2011

Visiting the mountains, lakes and beaches. Going on day trips to Italy. - Mar 2011

Scenery, wine, castles, lakes, good friends. - Jun 2010
