Ljubljana - Post Report Question and Answers

Are qualified veterinarians and/or good kennel services available? Do animals need to be quarantined upon entry to the country? Are there other considerations regarding pets that are particular to this country?

I don’t know. Slovenia seems to be a very dog-friendly country. You can bring dogs to many outdoor restaurants/cafes. - Jun 2022

No quarantine. Excellent veterinary care. We kenneled our dog with the vet. - May 2016

No, they just need the chip and passport. Quality pet care is available and good. - Jul 2014

The dogs have to follow the EU procedure to come here. No quarantine if everything is according to the EU rules! - Aug 2011

No. Pets do need to be micro-chipped and have proof of vaccination within a certain time-frame. The regulations are the same as elsewhere in the EU and depend on where you are coming from. - Jun 2011

No, they just need a passport, microchip and the regular vaccinations (rabies, etc). - Mar 2011

No quarantine needed, but you do need to have a health certificate from your vet before you arrive as well as have the pet micro chipped with a chip that's readable in Europe (maybe it's called an ISO chip), as well as a rabies shot within a year before you come but not less than a month. Check with GSO on this before you come. - Jun 2010
