Bamako - Post Report Question and Answers

What accommodations do schools make for special-needs kids?

AISB does have a learning support specialist who is a talented individual, but I don't believe that the school claims to be able to meet special needs. Most children with special needs will probably struggle in this environment. - Jul 2011

Probably none for special-needs kids, but I wouldn't really know. - Oct 2010

I don't think there is accommodations for special-need kids. I've never met any special needs kids in Bamako that is American. - May 2010

AISB says right up front that it cannot serve special-needs children, and rightly so as they really can't. This may change in the future with the move to the next campus, but that's at least 2-3 years off. I can't speak for BCA or BIA, but I highly doubt that they'd be any better off -- though they might be more willing to work with your child because they have smaller classes. - Sep 2009
