Managua - Post Report Question and Answers
What kind of vehicle(s) including electric ones do you recommend bringing to post, given the terrain, infrastructure, availability of parts, burglary/carjacking risks, etc.? What kind of car or vehicles do you advise not to bring?
Bring an SUV and spare parts and a spare tire. Bring something that isn’t brand new as the city can be tough on cars in terms of wear and tear. I’d recommend a Toyota as they are easiest to get serviced and repaired. - Sep 2026
Any vehicle that has high clearance, and preferably 4WD, if you want to go out of Managua. There are Toyotas everywhere here. - Feb 2024
High clearance is a must, 4x4 is best. We have an AWD Toyota Sienna, we purchased a kit online and had it raised 3.5 inches--it's awesome! - Sep 2023
