How much of the local language do you need for daily living? Are local language classes/tutors available and affordable?

To be honest, I have manged fine with limited French. There are many people around that speak English and can help. - Feb 2023

Having French would be helpful, but Yaounde is supposedly bilingual. However, Cameroonian English is a special kind of English, and the French seems different, too. You have to sometimes ask several times to get the answer to the question you asked. They use words and constructions a little differently here. There are French teachers here. - Jun 2018
