What do people who suffer from environmental or food allergies need to know?

TEMIS, the main elementary school for embassy and high commission children, does not allow nuts on campus. Outside the school, very few venues will be aware of the risk of allergic reactions from cross-contamination. A few restaurants that cater to expats will have a clearly labeled menu for items containing seafood or that are vegan, but always double-check with the chef if you have a serious allergy. Gluten-free and other dietary specialty items are inconsistently imported from overseas; most people bring their own supply in their shipments and restock when they travel abroad.
