What is the availability and cost of household help, and what types of help are typically employed by expatriates?

Household help is reasonable when compared to the US, but more expensive than the rest of Mexico. We paid about $7 an hour for our housekeeper who came for five hours a day twice per week. This is more than Mexicans pay, so if you can find someone who has never worked for US diplomats you may be able to get a cheaper hourly rate. - Apr 2023

Household help is usually available. But there are lulls. Most families have a housekeeper a day or two each week, and some with kids have nannies. - Nov 2017
