Wuhan - Post Report Question and Answers

What typical restaurants, food delivery services, and/or takeout options are popular among expatriates?

Eating out is 1/3-2/3 the cost of something similar in the U.S. Noodles, dumplings and stir-fried foods are common and there are endless varieties. Hubei cuisine tends to be quite spicy. Chinese and some other East Asian cuisines are easy to find whereas Western cuisine other than fast food is somewhat rare. The many local fresh markets have seasonal produce, but most vegetables are intended to be cooked, so salads and such may be harder to find. Food delivery services are ubiquitous although I find the apps a bit chaotic to figure out and so I just go and get things myself. - Jul 2021

1It is very easy and convenient to have any meal delivered at any time. There are more and more foreign restaurants, though that's not one of the selling points of Wuhan. You can get a good burger at many restaurants. There is an Indian restaurant and several French restaurants, a couple Italian pizzerias. There is a lot of Japanese and Korean food, and of course many options for Chinese cuisine. Our family loves pulled noodles, and there is a shop on practically every block-- wherever there are food shops. All these things are available for delivery. - Jan 2020

Most western fast food chains have outlets here. There are decent restaurants in the large hotels with reasonable prices (dinner is 16 euros). - Feb 2008
