Tokyo - Post Report Question and Answers

What is the overall climate: is it extremely hot or cold, wet or dry, at any time of year, for example?

Like I said, four seasons with extremely HOT, humid, and rainy summers that are only getting worse. It can snow in the winter in Tokyo city, but generally winters are more bearable than Europe or for example the Northeastern U.S. (Winters can be cold, but sunny. It does rain a lot in Japan, but lots of blue sky after the rain.) - May 2025

Four disparate seasons. Winter can be chilly, with occasional snow and 2-3 hard freezes lasting 1-3 days. Spring is phenomenally lovely. Summer is hot and humid (the rainy season). Fall is once again lovely. - Mar 2018

Summers are extremely humid from about July through August. Winters are mild with little snow (although this year we have had two snowstorms -- this is rare). Unfortunately, Tokyo is not prepared to handle the snow which causes major travel disruptions. Spring and autumn are lovely. - Feb 2014
