Yekaterinburg - Post Report Question and Answers

Are preschools available? Day care? Are these expensive? What has been your experience with them, if any? Do the schools provide before- and/or after-school care?

There are preschools, which are called kindergartens here. Children can attend them typically beginning at age two. Our daughter is currently two, but she does not yet attend a kindergarten. She does go to a small English-language preschool for one hour a week, with me. This preschool is the only one of its kind (English-language) in the area. There is also a Montessori school that my friend sometimes attends with her son, but I don't know much about it. - Feb 2020

Yes, but again they are all in Russian. There are some good Russian day care facilities. There is also a Montessori school not far from the consulate but it's all in Russian. - Aug 2018

Yes, but to my knowledge only one FSO in the 13-year history of the consulate has ventured to Yekaterinburg with pre-school aged children. - Jan 2008
