What household or grocery items do you wish you had shipped to post?

Brooms here are crummy. We've been through 5-6 in about 18 months. Trash cans are wildly expensive and it can be hard to find a good lidded trash can....bring bathroom-sized, lidded trash cans from home since you must dispose of all paper products in the cans and not in the toilet. My daughter has had a hard time finding feminine hygiene products that she likes...for a decent price. Cosmetics are wildly expensive. Hand carry good shampoo/conditioner in your luggage to to size restrictions on liquid shipments. - Aug 2023
In terms of grocery and household items, you can find it all here. I would try to buy clothes and electronics before you come; they are certainly here, but the selection and price is better in the U.S. - Oct 2019

None really. Even olive oil is pretty cheap at the Costco knockoff. I do take advantage of trips to the US to stock up on a few things like unscented glycerin soap or certain over-the-counter medicines, which can be cheaper in the US (Cetirizine/Zyrtec, children's acetaminophen, etc.). You can get most stuff here, too, just a few dollars pricier. - May 2018
Lemons and good wine. The embassy PX only stocks wine a college-aged girl would drink, and the grocery stores stock the cheapest wines from Chile and Argentina and up-charge. I have never in my life had worse hangovers than I have here. Cleaning supplies without heavy perfumes (but these can be ordered on Amazon and cross your fingers nothing leaks. None of my liquids have ever been turned away by DPO). - May 2018

Local supermarkets carry many U.S. products for a higher price. Bring gourmet spices or salsas if you like to cook. For Thanksgiving, will need your canned pumpkin. Also bring clothing as formal wear is expensive. Don't forget to stock up on mosquito repellant. - Jan 2014

You can get almost anything here. I might ship more clothes and shoes for the kids. The clothing isn't good quality and usually is expensive. If you have anything special that you like (for example, I love maple syrup and rotel tomatoes), you can ship that, but you can also order it on netgrocer.com. - Oct 2009
