What kind of car do you recommend bringing to post, given the terrain, availability of parts, burglary/carjacking risks, etc.? What kind of car do you advise not to bring?
Only brand new cars/trucks can be imported and are subject to a tax of up to 84%. Cars are very expensive here due to these rules. Cars also keep their value much more than anywhere I have been. It is cheaper and easier to buy a car here than to import one. SUVs are the most popular. Carjackings are not common. - Sep 2007
