Is it easy to make friends with locals here? Are there any prejudices or any ethnic groups who might feel uncomfortable here?
I think it’s relatively easy, although local Mauritians tend to stay within their own social circles, with family and long-standing friends, so they may not feel the same need to expand their networks as expatriates do. That said, by participating in expat groups and community gatherings, you can meet a lot of people and build a strong social network. - May 2026
