What kind of car do you recommend bringing to post, given the terrain, availability of parts, burglary/carjacking risks, etc.? What kind of car do you advise not to bring?
All the roads here are paved and in good condition, any type of car would be fine. European brands are cheaper to maintain/service (obviously) but Korean and even Chinese cars are becoming more common here. Subaru and Toyotas are rare. American makes are expensive to maintain. - Jun 2017
No special issues here. We drive a Honda pilot which is enormous by local standards and can be tricky to get in and out of garages. Mainly we walk everywhere. It is tricky to drive it in the neighborhoods with very small streets. - Mar 2016

I have a midsize SUV and I don't have any problems driving around town or finding parking spaces. If the Embassy is housing you - you must let them know the height of your SUV - as some of the older homes have small garages. You must have snow tires. If you bring an out of spec car and try to sell it here, the new owner has to pay to bring the car up to spec - not fun! - Sep 2011
Well, smaller is always easier for navigating. But we bought a used Peugeot 807 (mini van) because we need to haul kids and bikes around. I can park anywhere. - Sep 2010
