Luxembourg City - Post Report Question and Answers

What types of jobs do most expatriate spouses/partners have? Locally based or telecommuting? Full-time or part-time? Can you comment on local salary scales?

This varies wildly depending on the qualifications of each individual. Local pay scales can swing as much as 30% higher than some places in the US, however they seem to be about 30% lower than high cost of living areas like Seattle or Los Angeles. Fluency in French, German, Portuguese, or English (more is better) would be required to get a job on the local economy. - Jun 2017

if you know fluent french - Sep 2011

noNo. - Apr 2010

No, ISL only hires from the government unemployment office. So forget sending them a resume, as they prefer to hire unemployed locals or expats with no skills. Luxembourg's government pays a large portion of their first year's salary. So I guess it's better to sign-up with the Luxembourg unemployment office to get a job in this town. Unless you can get one with your spouse's company. - Oct 2009
