Do you feel that it is safe to walk, run or hike outside? Are there areas where bike riding is possible? What is the availability and safety of outdoor space for exercising? Are these easily accessible?
This is NOT an outdoors city. The streets are full of litter, stray cats, stray dogs, no sidewalks, no crosswalks. Walking outdoors is not scenic or pleasant. Many people manage to walk to work or to their local shops, just have low expectations of how "nice" it will be. This is not a walking city. That said, there is little threat of crime. I have never feared being attacked or robbed etc here. I feel more safe out and about here than I do in D.C. - Apr 2025
