Amman - Post Report Question and Answers

Are there any particular mental health issues that tend to crop up at post, such as Seasonal Affective Disorder (winter blues)?

No - Jul 2022

None that I am aware of. It is sunny most of the time. - Oct 2021

The absence of green space was hard on us mentally. - Feb 2021

We have an RMOP here at post. - Jan 2021

Not having outdoor space is really hard for kids and adults. People need their vitamin D and its hard to get if you don't have outdoor space at all. There is zero outdoor space in Jordan. No greenery, no fields... if outdoor life is important to your kids then maybe don't come here. Fields are littered with glass and trash. Outdoor life is very important to me but we've learned how to get by alright..... just not ideal at all. - Dec 2020

Culture shock, depression. Morale was not great with most people I knew there. Many traveled very often for frequent breaks from Amman. - Sep 2018

I can't think of any other than typical post-related ones. There is a little bit of a lack of a variety in spousal employment opportunities, although it's getting better. I am a little put-off that I can't wear shorts freely, but I grin and bear it in my capris. - Sep 2018

Stress. This is a high-tempo post and even though it is safe there is a sense of constantly being on edge because something bad could happen at any time. This wears people down. - Mar 2017
