Lisbon - Post Report Question and Answers

What is the relative size of the expatriate community? How would you describe overall morale among expatriates?

Our suburb feels like it is almost entirely entitled rich expats, which frankly isn't my cup of tea. The embassy community does not seem particularly close knit, at least out here in the suburbs. I think many people aren't all that happy, but would never admit it because, you know, it's Portugal. - Apr 2021

Large, very large. Excellent morale. Some expats are long, long, long term - Sep 2016

Medium and morale is good. This is Lisbon, what else can I say. - Aug 2015

Medium size and very eager to expand to new members. Most of my wife's friends are non-Embassy Expats. - Jul 2015

Maybe 5000? Not large and many are retirees. Maybe a few hundred Americans, most are Brits and then other Europeans as Portugal continues to be one of the least expensive EU countries with the best weather. - Oct 2011

Pretty big, considering. - Aug 2011

Large, I guess, but you would not know it in the city, because it is so spread out. In Cascais, it is much more noticeable. - Aug 2010

Seems pretty big. I wouldn't hazard a guess on numbers - Sep 2008
