There are very few books or movies about Turkmenistan and many of them are probably outdated. Turkmenistan - Far Flung Places Guide was a good read though or Chronicles of Turkmenistan online (although it is not a verified news source). - Feb 2016
There isn't a great deal out there about Turkmenistan. Depending on your field of activity, I'd read some of the State Department's many annual reports about issues pertaining to business and civil society. - Jul 2014
