Do you recommend any books or movies about this city/country for those who are interested in learning more?
Even though it's old and it's about Bangkok instead of Chiang Mai, I love the book Mai Pen Rai Means Never Mind. Written by the spouse of an American diplomat living in Bangkok in the late 50s or early 60s, it's such a fabulous peek into Thai culture. While some of the culture has modernized and changed since that book, a lot of it is still rooted in what you read there. Plus the lady who wrote it had such a great attitude about living overseas. - Mar 2019
