Is this a good city for LGBT expatriates? Why or why not?
I'm guessing it would be better than other places as Thais tend to be pretty accepting of LGBTs, but I couldn't speak to it from personal experience. - Mar 2019
The average Thai is very accepting of all lifestyle choices. The average expatriate in Chiang Mai might be less accepting, especially considering the overwhelming number of missionaries. That said, I suspect that Chiang Mai is a good city for gay/lesbian expats. - May 2007
