English-language newspapers and TV available? Cost?

Not all that much actually. Some people us AFN, but are generally less than enthusiastic about it. Better to rely on internet for this. Also, if you really really like your U.S. TV shows, sports in particular, then you should research slingbox before coming here. The people that have set it up rave about it, but you need to do work on it before leaving for post. - Aug 2013

I used Sky for television service. I had a special package with extra movie and sport channels and paid about 60 Euro a month. - Jun 2010

Sky satellite has a lot of English-language shows and movies; generally you can choose to watch it in English. Foreign magazines are expensive (People is €7.10; I just paid almost €30 for three British music magazines) though Newsweek and Time are a little cheaper (I think around €4). - Dec 2008

Newspapers are USA Today, Herald Tribune and The Washington Times. For T.V. we have a Slingbox and are able to watch DirecTV from the States. We also have the Armed Forces Network box. - Jan 2008
