Cape Town - Post Report Question and Answers

What is the air quality like at post (good/moderate/bad)? Are there seasonal air quality issues? Does the air quality have an impact on health?

Great air quality. - Apr 2021

The Southeaster (a serious wind!) blows away most of the air pollution before it gets too bad. When it isn't windy (rare) it can get smoggy, but it doesn't linger. Seasonally, people suffer from allergies/hay fever here because Cape Town has a huge variety of plants that only grow here, so your body isn't used to the pollen. - Feb 2018

Air quality is good. Locals talk about the "Cape Doctor," the winds that come down from the mountains and blow the air pollution out to sea. Some people may experience seasonal allergies. - Oct 2017

Very good. Probably the best I've experienced in an urban environment. - May 2014

The air quality is excellent, due to the moderate to strong winds that regularly blow. Called "the Cape doctor" by locals, it keeps everything fresh and clean. - Aug 2013
