Are preschools available? Day care? Are these expensive? What has been your experience with them, if any? Do the schools provide before- and/or after-school care?

Readily available in multiple languages. Italian preschools and daycare centers are also very good, and Italians love children. - May 2013

Preschool/daycare is available, but I believe it is very expensive. Our preschool-aged daughter stays at home and has frequent play-dates with her peers, which fits our situation. - Apr 2012

Preschools and daycares are very good here, and if you go with the local options, very inexpensive. If you send your child for Pre-K at any of the interntaional schools (AOSR, Marymount, AMBRIT, etc.), you will pay through the nose. All charge upwards of US$10,000 a year just for the half-day program. They will offer discounts if you have other children in the school, but it's still pretty expensive. - Feb 2008

Preschools are available at most of the international schools but they tale few kids younger than 3.There are a few that targets the younger age group, so have no fear, just keep on looking. There are also several Italian day care programs but beware of those and the poor behavior of Italian children! - Feb 2008
