Niamey - Post Report Question and Answers

What is your home city/country? How long is the trip to post from there, with what connections? How easy/difficult is it to travel to this city/country?

Home is the east coast of the US. Almost everyone comes the Paris but you can come through Istanbul and Addis. It's about 6 hours from Paris to Niamey (direct). - Aug 2022

We travelled from Washington, D.C. Travel time was about 24 hours, via Charles de Gaulle airport, Paris. Connections were also available via Ankara with Turkish Air. Travel to Niamey always entailed a layover of at least a couple of hours, no matter where you transit through. The new airport building in Niamey is very fancy though, with many more facilities than the old airport building had. - Apr 2020

New York, New York (so nice, they named it twice!). Eight hours to CDG Paris and five hours to NIM Niamey. - Jul 2019

Midwest. It's about 14 hours total, including a layover in Paris. Sometimes Air France will surprise you with a stopover in Lome, Togo to pick up more passengers. This won't be listed on your tickets, so you're looking at a few more hours of travel time. - Oct 2017

California, USA. The trip takes around 18 hours through Paris. - Oct 2017

We are typically assigned at Stateside military bases. Our arrival was a flight from Washington Dulles and connecting through Paris for a final 6 hour flight to Niamey. Free wine on the plane so no worries while traveling... - Aug 2015

US- one full day of transit with a transfer in Paris. - Jul 2013
